Ereckson Middle School is the top-ranked public middle school in Collin County, according to Niche's 2027 school rankings.
The Allen ISD campus also placed second in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro out of 413 public middle schools and seventh in Texas out of 1,886.
Nationally, Ereckson landed at No. 90 out of 22,536 public middle schools. Niche gave the school an overall A+ grade.
The school announced the recognition on Oct. 26. "We want to thank you for helping our Ereckson Huskies be the #1 ranked school in Collin County and the #2 ranked school in all of DFW and #7 in the state of Texas," the school said in a post on its website.
Ereckson serves seventh- and eighth-graders in Allen ISD.
Teachers earned recognition, too. Ereckson ranked second in Collin County and fourth in the DFW metro for best public middle school teachers, according to Niche.
Niche, a school and neighborhood research platform, released its 2027 rankings on Sept. 25. The site's methodology draws on state assessment proficiency data and reviews. This year, Niche updated its academic performance data to pull from state-level sources rather than federal ones, according to its methodology page.
The school-level honor is separate from Allen ISD's district-level Niche ranking, which the district highlighted earlier in October. Ereckson's No. 1 placement in Collin County put it ahead of 53 other public middle schools in the county.
