Allen High School senior Adilyn Krevanko will dance her first-ever pas de deux when Allen Civic Ballet stages its 27th annual Nutcracker in December.
Krevanko, a dancer with the nonprofit ballet company, will perform alongside guest artist Alex Vrba in the snow scene, according to Allen Civic Ballet's announcement. Vrba is a member of Madison Ballet in Wisconsin who began dancing at age 15 and joined that company in 2021.
He won't be the only Madison Ballet artist onstage. Michaela King, who performed as a company artist at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre before joining Madison Ballet, will dance the role of Sugar Plum Fairy. Vrba will dance her Cavalier in the Grand Pas de Deux. King has taken on principal and soloist roles in productions including "Giselle" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and has danced the Sugar Plum role in Madison Ballet's own Nutcracker.
The two performances take place at the Performing Arts Center at Allen High School, 300 Rivercrest Blvd. The Saturday, Dec. 5, show begins at 7 p.m., and the Sunday, Dec. 6, matinee starts at 2 p.m.
Tickets range from $20 to $60 for preferred seating and are on sale through the Allen Civic Ballet website.
Allen Civic Ballet is a nonprofit that features young performers between 12 and 21 years old, according to Community Impact. Stefanie Best serves as president and artistic director. The productions are partially funded by grants from the City of Allen and the Allen Arts Alliance.
The Dec. 5 and Dec. 6 performances are the only two scheduled dates for the 27th Nutcracker.
