Yearby's Barbecue and Waterice, a halal smokehouse on Texas Monthly's 2025 Top 50 list, holds a soft opening in Allen on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The restaurant will serve a limited menu Saturday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 405 Central Expressway S., according to Hoodline. Owner Sabrina Henley confirmed the late-October timeline to Community Impact, which first reported the Allen opening.

The new location takes over a former Dickey's Barbecue Pit space along the US-75 corridor, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Sabrina and CJ Henley launched their food truck in Anna on Christmas Day 2021. A brick-and-mortar restaurant in Pilot Point followed at the end of March 2023, according to Texas Monthly, which tracked the couple's growth from that early mobile operation into a barbecue destination.

The Henleys relocated to Plano in December 2025, but closed that location in June after securing a long-term lease in Allen, according to the business's Facebook page. In a post announcing the move, the Henleys called it "a major step forward for our company," the Chronicle reported.

The menu features brisket, lamb ribs, turkey breast and sausage alongside sides like mac and cheese, collard greens, potato salad and coleslaw, Community Impact reported. The business's website describes its brisket, beef ribs and sausage as delivering classic Central Texas flavor while meeting halal standards.

The Henleys also serve homemade water ice, a frozen treat with roots in Philadelphia, where Sabrina Henley is from, the Chronicle reported.

Texas Monthly included Yearby's on its 2025 Top 50 Texas BBQ Joints list. The restaurant announced the soft opening in an Oct. 13 Facebook post, as reported by the Chronicle.

Regular hours beyond the soft-opening weekend have not been announced. More details are available at yearbysbbq.com.
