Tens of thousands of international esports fans will descend on Allen's US-75 corridor restaurants, hotels and shops when the Credit Union of Texas Event Center hosts 17 days of League of Legends World Championship competition starting Oct. 23.

The event, which runs through Nov. 8, will bring the Swiss Stage, Quarterfinals and Semifinals to the venue at 200 E. Stacy Road. Allen is the first city in the tournament's history to host all three rounds at a single venue, according to a city of Allen news release. It is projected to be the largest event the 17-year-old facility has ever hosted.

Previous League of Legends World Championship events have generated an estimated $53 million in economic impact across North American host cities, the city said. That figure is a cumulative total from past tournaments held in cities including London, Paris, Seoul, Berlin, San Francisco and New York. No Allen-specific revenue projection has been published.

The spending builds on a record year for Allen tourism. Visitor spending surpassed $209 million in 2025, crossing the $200 million mark for the first time, with daily visitor spending averaging more than $574,000, according to the Allen Convention and Visitors Bureau's annual report to City Council in May.

Credit Union of Texas Event Center general manager Bill Herman told City Council in May that the venue's programming has evolved significantly since 2021, now hosting multiweek esports tournaments alongside productions like Disney On Ice.

"This is an incredible opportunity to showcase Allen on a truly global stage," Mayor Chris Schulmeister said when the city announced the hosting deal July 24. He said the city looks forward to introducing millions of fans to everything Allen has to offer.

The venue describes the surrounding area as walkable, with hotels, dining and entertainment within minutes of the arena. The Allen CVB's "Show Your Badge" program, which offers event visitors exclusive discounts at participating local businesses, has enrolled more than 50 Allen businesses, placing the city third in Texas behind San Antonio and Grapevine.

The detailed schedule: Swiss Stage runs Oct. 23-26 and Oct. 28-31, Quarterfinals run Nov. 3-6, and Semifinals take place Nov. 7-8. In 2024, the tournament drew 190 million hours watched globally and a peak audience of 6.86 million viewers for a single match.

Tickets are big. General admission went on sale July 24 and remains available at CUTXEventCenter.com/Events. Visit Allen, Texas plans to release a dedicated "gamer's guide to Allen" ahead of the event to help international visitors navigate local dining, shopping and attractions.
