The Credit Union of Texas Event Center will host three stages of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship this October and November.
The event would make Allen the first city in tournament history to hold the Swiss Stage, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals under one roof, according to a city news release published Wednesday, July 23.
The announcement puts Allen alongside London, Paris, Seoul, Berlin, San Francisco, and New York as host cities for one of the world's largest competitive gaming events.
"This is an incredible opportunity to showcase Allen on a truly global stage," Mayor Chris Schulmeister said in the release.
What's happening and when
The event center — home arena of the Allen Americans hockey team — will stage matches over roughly three weeks:
- Swiss Stage: Friday, October 23 through Monday, October 26, and Wednesday, October 28 through Saturday, October 31
- Quarterfinals: Tuesday, November 3 through Friday, November 6
- Semifinals: Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8
These rounds determine which teams advance to the World Championship Final, which will be held at a separate location not yet publicly identified.
Economic context
Previous League of Legends World Championship events have generated approximately $53 million in revenue across multiple host cities, according to the city release.
Allen officials expect the tournament to bring sales tax dollars and hotel occupancy tax revenue as out-of-town visitors fill local hotels and restaurants.
Allen already draws significant visitor spending — more than $500,000 per day on average in 2025, according to a May Allen Convention and Visitors Bureau report — and officials expect the tournament to add to that base.
Brandy O'Keefe, director of the Allen Convention and Visitors Bureau, said in the release that hosting the championship rounds reinforces Allen's position as a destination for major events.
Global audience
The broader League of Legends World Championship drew 190 million hours of viewership worldwide in 2024, according to the city release. The tournament will bring live competition to Allen for more than two weeks.
