The Radha Krishna Temple in Allen is hosting free daily chanting sessions and twice-weekly classes open to residents of all ages and experience levels.
The temple's Vishnu Sahasranama chanting takes place every day from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. CT, with check-in starting at 5:15 p.m., according to the temple's website.
Vishnu Sahasranama is a Hindu devotional text reciting the thousand names of Lord Vishnu. The in-person sessions are free and open to all.
Newcomers do not need prior experience. The temple says those unfamiliar with the chanting are welcome to listen and gradually learn the spiritual practice of chanting the Divine names.
Separately, the temple offers free classes on Tiruppavai and Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Tiruppavai is a collection of 30 sacred Tamil devotional hymns composed by Sri Andal, a revered figure in the Hindu tradition. The classes are open to children, youth and adults.
The programming is part of a devotional framework called Tridha Bhakti, or threefold devotion, taught by Swami Mukundananda and the JKYog organization. The practice centers on connecting to mantras to focus the mind on selfless devotional worship.
The temple, known formally as the Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas, is located in Allen. It recently concluded a Navratri Mahotsav festival that drew community attention, including a 27-foot Ravan Dahan ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
