The Allen Americans added four rookies to their 2026-27 roster Thursday, Aug. 6, loading up on size and toughness as training camp approaches in October and the franchise prepares for its first game at Comerica Center in Frisco.
Forwards Chase Coughlin, Cole Bishop and Divyne Apollon join defenseman Cal Uens in what head coach Steve Martinson called a freshman class built around physicality.
"Cal Uens has a lot of poise and vision. Chase forechecks, hits and scores, while Divyne is the toughest young heavyweight in the league," Martinson said in the team's announcement. "Cole is a big strong power forward."
All four are rookies.
Coughlin, a 6-foot, 205-pound forward from Toronto, spent four seasons with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League. He led his team in penalty minutes during his final OHL season with 92 while posting 33 points.
Uens, 21, finished third on the Quebec Remparts in scoring last season with 49 points in 63 games and added 54 penalty minutes. The right-shot blueliner turned 21 in February.
Apollon already has a taste of Allen hockey. He appeared in two ECHL games with the Americans during a March series against the South Carolina Stingrays. In 2024-25 with Amarillo of the NAHL, he racked up 168 penalty minutes in just 20 games.
Bishop rounds out the group at 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds. The left-shot forward played one QMJHL season with Moncton and three in the BCHL, recording 32 points and 60 penalty minutes with Coquitlam last year.
The signings are the latest in a busy offseason for Martinson. The Americans added forwards Anthony Rinaldi and Mathieu De St. Phalle on July 29 and re-signed veteran Spencer Asuchak on July 22. When Martinson announced Rinaldi and De St. Phalle in late July, he said the team's top playmakers were returning and the new additions would help the Americans stay atop the league in offensive production.
The franchise has won four titles in five Finals appearances across 17 seasons. The 2026-27 campaign will be its 18th year of professional hockey.
The regular season opens Oct. 17 at Tulsa. The home opener against the Idaho Steelheads follows Thursday, Oct. 29, at Comerica Center. Tickets are available at 972-912-1000.
