Acting Superintendent Kim McLaughlin joined Allen ISD's Silver Eagles Club for a school-year kickoff, her first event with the senior community group as the district's top administrator.
Coaches from several Allen ISD sports programs also attended, and football players and student leaders mingled with club members, according to the district.
The gathering connected residents with the staff and students heading into the 2026-2027 school year.
McLaughlin, a 36-year district veteran, was named acting superintendent by the Board of Trustees on May 14. She is serving as a transitional leader between the retirement of former Superintendent Robin Bullock and the search for a permanent replacement.
The kickoff follows the club's end-of-year luncheon in May at the Allen ISD Service Center, where Bullock addressed members before his retirement. "Your engagement and your continued involvement in this city and in this school district especially, is so very important to us," Bullock said at the May gathering. That luncheon also featured a showcase from Eagle Creations students, who displayed and sold handmade items.
The Silver Eagles Club is free for Allen ISD residents ages 55 and older. Members receive district updates, invitations to special events and discounted tickets to select fine arts and athletic performances.
