High 5 Exchange broke ground Monday, Aug. 31, on a bowling and entertainment venue at The Farm in Allen, targeting a late 2027 opening.

The company, which operates locations in Austin and Lake Travis, held a ceremony along SH 121 with project officials and city leaders present, Community Impact Newspaper reported.

Company president and founder Scott Emley said the project has been more than five years in the making.

The facility will anchor its offerings around bowling, with 16 full-size lanes and eight duckpin lanes, a variation that uses a smaller ball.

Beyond bowling, the venue plans eight additional attractions: a laser tag arena, escape rooms, augmented-reality and virtual-reality experiences, an arcade gaming floor and a 36-hole outdoor miniature golf course.

Space for future attractions is also planned.

The venue will also offer a food and beverage menu, a full bar with craft cocktails, and private event packages for birthday parties and corporate gatherings. Emley said he expects the facility to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

"Only Allen ... would have been as patient to see through it and be patient with us, walk with us, and then we're ready to get started three years later, they're like, 'Let's go!'" Emley said at the ceremony.

"They immediately helped us get through the process."

High 5 Exchange's corporate office is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Plano-based real estate firm SLX Capital recently signed on as a partner.

SLX Capital partner Matthew Bodzy, who said the firm has been involved for about six months, called the groundbreaking the culmination of years of work by many people on the project.

The Farm in Allen is a 135-acre mixed-use development along SH 121 that includes office space, residential units and townhomes, according to the development's website.

The Johnson family has owned the property since 1964. No construction cost or total investment figure for the High 5 Exchange project has been disclosed.
