Justice Kyle Hawkins, a Republican, is running for a full term on the Texas Supreme Court, Place 7, in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election.
This candidacy is listed in the Texas secretary of state’s official November 3, 2026 certification for Collin County.
Gov. Greg Abbott appointed Hawkins to the seat on Oct. 24, 2025, replacing Justice Jeffrey S. Boyd. That appointment expires Dec. 31, 2026. Hawkins is seeking a full term.
Hawkins argued five cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, nine before the Texas Supreme Court and dozens more in other appellate courts, according to his Texas judiciary biography.
He clerked for Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. of the U.S. Supreme Court during the 2013–14 term and for Judge Edith H. Jones of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, according to the governor's appointment announcement.
