Allen High School's powderpuff football teams are deep into practice ahead of homecoming, and the senior squad has a Division I arm under center.
Gisela Boitmann, an Auburn softball commit, will play quarterback for the seniors, The Red Ledger reported Sept. 23. Allen High's student newspaper profiled players from three of the four grade-level teams preparing for the annual tradition, in which girls play and boys coach.
Boitmann committed to Auburn on Sept. 7, 2025, and carries a 96.00 rating from recruiting site On3, ranking No. 23 nationally and No. 5 in Texas in the 2027 class. MaxPreps lists her on the Lovejoy varsity softball roster as a left-handed pitcher and first baseman. As a freshman in 2024, she posted a 1.29 ERA with 196 strikeouts over 134.2 innings and went 17-5, earning Star Local Media's Newcomer of the Year honor.
Senior Brenna Wallace told The Red Ledger she plans to line up at safety and multiple offensive positions.
"It's a fun activity and it's competitive," Wallace said.
The Red Ledger's preview noted the seniors have "big shoes to fill" after the class of 2026's powderpuff run but called the group a strong contender with Boitmann and Wallace leading the way.
Junior defensive player Avery Daniels brings a competitive streak her teammates say never lets up. Daniels told the student paper she signed up because her friends did and the idea sounded exciting. She likes her team's chances.
The freshman team has Addison Gray at quarterback. Gray's teammates point to her arm strength as a standout trait. She said she joined powderpuff to make memories with friends during her first year.
No specific date for the powderpuff games has been announced publicly. All four grade levels are fielding teams as part of Allen High's homecoming week.
