Allen's newest park holds its free grand opening Saturday, Oct. 3, with a five-hour Harvest Jubilee featuring food trucks, live music, a farmers market and a pumpkin patch.

Bravo Park at Sloan Corners, located at 785 Bravo Park Drive near U.S. Highway 75 and State Highway 121, opens its gates at 11 a.m. The event runs until 4 p.m., according to Community Impact.

A DJ kicks off the event alongside lawn games, pickleball and face painters. A "Find the Bear" scavenger hunt starts at noon. A ribbon cutting and welcome remarks follow at 12:45 p.m. Bubble artist performances run from 1 to 3 p.m., and free yoga classes are offered at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., according to the Sloan Corners event page.

The grand opening was first announced for June 20 and postponed at least once before landing on Oct. 3.

The 9.5-acre park sits inside Billingsley Company's Sloan Corners mixed-use development. Allen City Council unanimously approved accepting the donated parkland at its April 28 meeting. Under a perpetual maintenance agreement, Sloan Corners covers all upkeep and programming costs, meaning the park adds no maintenance expense to the city's budget, according to the City of Allen.

Deputy City Manager Eric Strong said at the April 28 council meeting that the addition supports the city's goal of putting a public park within a 10-minute walk of every resident. "Having this goal and meeting it helps us get grants for future park projects we're applying for with the county and other organizations," Strong said at the meeting.

The park features four pickleball courts, separate dog park areas for large and small dogs, walking trails through mature trees and several pieces of public art, including a bear statue that the Allen Public Library named through a community contest on Sept. 12.

At full buildout, the nearly $3 billion Sloan Corners project will span 480 acres with offices, restaurants, apartments and retail across Allen and Fairview, Star Local Media reported.

Visitors on Oct. 3 can also tour the model apartment at Hartwood at Sloan Corners for a chance to win six months of free rent.
