Allen ISD families have until Sunday, Sept. 20, to weigh in on the 2027-28 school calendar.

The district launched an online survey on Thursday, Sept. 3, asking families, staff and community members to submit preferences for the upcoming academic calendar. The form, titled "2027-2028 Academic Calendar Planning Community Feedback," is available at weareallen.com/s/2728calsurvey.

Allen ISD said the planning process aims to balance Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements with the needs of local families and educators. The district said individual responses will be weighed collectively when building the calendar.

The survey is open to anyone connected to the district, which serves roughly 20,838 students across 24 schools in Allen.

How last year's calendar took shape

The Board of Trustees finalized the current 2026-27 academic calendar during an October board meeting, Community Impact reported. That calendar set the first day of school on Thursday, Aug. 13, with fall break running Oct. 12-16 and Thanksgiving break Nov. 23-27, according to the district's published calendar.

The board will ultimately vote on whatever calendar emerges from the planning process. The seven-member board includes President Dr. Polly Montgomery, Dr. Bill Parker, John Holley, Veronica Yost, Sarah Mitchell, Amanda Campbell and Becca Kinnear, according to April 2026 meeting minutes. Superintendent Robin Bullock addressed the board at that same April 27 meeting.

Calendar decisions affect start and end dates, holiday breaks and professional development days for every campus in the district. The survey gives families and staff a chance to flag scheduling conflicts or preferences before the board locks in dates.

How to participate

The survey accepts responses from families, staff and community members through Sunday, Sept. 20. Submissions can be made at weareallen.com/s/2728calsurvey.

No timeline has been announced for when the board will vote on the final 2027-28 calendar.
