Allen ISD managed five construction projects over a single 68-day summer window, district officials told the board of trustees at its Sept. 28 meeting.

The pace is unusual. The district typically handles one or two summer projects, said Brent Benningfield, assistant superintendent of operations. Officials pushed all five forward at once to avoid rising construction costs, as first reported by Community Impact Newspaper.

Every project is funded by the $442 million bond voters approved in November 2024. Proposition A accounts for $419.1 million, covering full renovations and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, roofing and concrete repairs. Proposition C adds $23.1 million for computer updates at all campuses.

Two of the five summer projects are done. Renovations at Cheatham Elementary School and Anderson Early Childhood School have been completed.

Anderson's overhaul cost $30.4 million, and the school reopened for the 2026-27 year.

The Allen High School Activity Center is nearly finished. The building is already in use. Benningfield said the project will be completely done around winter.

Curtis Middle School's renovation is the most complex of the group. The first two phases wrapped up over the summer. The third phase is scheduled to finish Friday, Oct. 9, said Brian Neely, executive director of operations.

Families got an early look during a Meet the Teacher event for the 2026-27 school year. Hallways featured fresh red, black and grey accents, and the updated library showed off suspended acoustic panels under a bright skylight. The full renovation is expected to continue in phases until July 2027.

A new multipurpose complex at Allen High School is on schedule for completion later in 2026.

"All of our projects have been on time with this team and all have been within budget," Neely said. "That's a huge, huge deal."

Two more campuses are next. Green Elementary School renovations are expected to begin in summer 2027, Neely said. Ford Middle School renovations will be split into two phases, with the first starting in summer 2027 and the second in summer 2028. Both projects are in the design phase.
