Allen High School students got their first taste of the 2026-27 school year Friday, Aug. 7, when the campus hosted its annual Flight School orientation and Back to School Bash six days before classes begin.

Flight School ran from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. and was built for the Class of 2029 and all new enrollees. Incoming freshmen toured the building, picked up student IDs and met teachers and future classmates, according to Allen ISD.

The afternoon shifted to the Back to School Bash, open from 2 to 3:30 p.m. to all 10th- through 12th-graders as well. The event featured the season's first pep rally, carnival-style club booths, food trucks, parking pass distribution and more student ID pickups.

Student organizations turned out in force. Allen Eagle Theatre posted about performing at the pep rally, while Allen HS Key Club thanked visitors at its booth and announced its first meeting of the year on Aug. 27 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Lowery library.

@allenkeyclub: "Thank you so much for everyone who visited! I hope you guys had a great time, and we are looking forward to seeing you guys at our first meeting."

The events cap a busy launch week for the district. As we reported Aug. 7, Allen ISD held its circus-themed staff Convocation the same morning at Allen High School. New teachers had already been welcomed at a breakfast at Lowery Freshman Center on Aug. 3-4.

Allen ISD's first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 13. Allen High School is located at 300 Rivercrest Blvd.

Upcoming community dates:
