Carl Clemencich is Allen's new mayor pro tem after the City Council voted to elect him in open session following an executive session at its June 9 meeting.
Mayor Chris Schulmeister nominated Clemencich after thanking outgoing Mayor Pro Tem Ben Trahan for his service.
"He served exceptionally well, and he now has that experience and knowledge under his belt," Schulmeister said of Trahan at the June 9 meeting.
Molsen Farm grant among consent items
The council also adopted a resolution to apply for Collin County Parks and Open Space Funding Assistance toward the design of Molsen Farm, an 88-acre city-owned site where Allen has invested $8.27 million in land purchases since 2006. The county grant would fund initial design work for a greenhouse, tree farm, community gardens, and related infrastructure. The city's requested dollar amount was not specified in available meeting documents. The county program is backed by a $20 million bond proposition Collin County voters approved in 2023, with an application deadline of July 6 and Commissioners Court scheduled to make funding decisions in October 2026.
