Allen Civic Ballet and its training school, the Allen Conservatory of Dance, will move into a shared space at 503 W. McDermott Drive, Suite 100, this fall, bringing operations that have shared space on East Main Street into a single new home.
President and artistic director Stefanie Best confirmed the relocation to Community Impact on July 16. The nonprofit, which showcases performers ages 12 to 21, currently shares space with the Conservatory at 602 E. Main St., Suite E.
Best described the move as bringing both organizations "under the same umbrella." The Allen Conservatory of Dance has served as the official school of the Allen Civic Ballet, offering classical and contemporary ballet training in Allen for more than 20 years.
A specific move date has not been announced.
Background
The Allen Civic Ballet is a nonprofit established in 1999 by five dancers who studied under Nathalie Krassovska, a prima ballerina of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and London Festival Ballet. The organization is funded in part by grants from the Allen Arts Alliance and the City of Allen.
How to get involved
Dancers ages 5 and older can audition for the 2026 Nutcracker community cast at two open sessions at the current location, 602 E. Main St., Suite E:
- Friday, August 8 — Ages 5–8: 1–2:30 p.m.; Ages 9+: 2:30–4 p.m.
- Friday, August 22 — Same time slots
The full Nutcracker production is scheduled for December 2026 at the Performing Arts Center at Allen High School, 300 Rivercrest Blvd. Tickets go on sale in October.
