The Allen Chamber of Commerce has moved to a bigger home in the heart of downtown, leaving behind the McDermott Drive office it occupied for about 30 years.

Chamber President Kyle Jacobson and community leaders cut the ribbon July 15 on a 2,500-square-foot space inside The Asher, a renovated multi-tenant office building at 400 N. Allen Drive. The new space gives the chamber about 500 more square feet than its former location at 210 W. McDermott Drive and, for the first time, dedicated co-working space for members and room to host ribbon cuttings for businesses that don't have a physical storefront.

Jacobson said staff recognized in 2024 that the old office handled internal work fine but couldn't accommodate member gatherings or community events. An organizational rebrand launched around the same time pushed the search for a new building.

The Asher itself is a three-story, 46,000-square-foot building that Gillett Commercial acquired and renovated. Wednesday's event doubled as The Asher's grand opening. Other tenants in the building include True Haven Therapy, Carillon Financial Corp., and Regus, which occupies about 17,000 square feet offering office rentals and coworking.

Allen Mayor Chris Schulmeister, a resident of more than 40 years, delivered an official proclamation at the ceremony commending the chamber for its role in advancing business success in Allen. He called the organization "as robust today as it's ever been."

Members can now use the chamber's coworking space and book the office for events at 400 N. Allen Drive.
