The Allen Americans signed forwards Anthony Rinaldi and Mathieu De St. Phalle on Wednesday, July 29, giving the ECHL club two right-shot scorers it lacked last season as the roster takes shape before October's training camp.
Coach and General Manager Steve Martinson said the signings fill a specific hole.
"Last season we lacked a right-shot, high-end skilled forward up front," Martinson said in the team's announcement. "We added two today with the signing of Anthony and Mathieu. I expect both to score a lot of goals this year."
Martinson noted that all of the Americans' top playmakers are returning, framing Rinaldi and De St. Phalle as additions to an already-intact offensive core rather than replacements.
Both are right-shot forwards.
Rinaldi: veteran scorer with international résumé
Rinaldi, 30, from Montreal, spent most of last season with the Greensboro Gargoyles, posting 12 goals and 14 assists in 56 games before a late-season trade to the South Carolina Stingrays.
He made an impression against his new team down the stretch: in three games against Allen, Rinaldi put up five points (three goals, two assists).
Before returning to North America, Rinaldi played three seasons in Europe, including a 50-point campaign in 39 games with the Tilburg Trappers in Germany during 2024-25. He has also logged six AHL games with the Tucson Roadrunners.
De St. Phalle: Big Ten pedigree, playoff experience
De St. Phalle, 26, from Glencoe, Illinois, arrives after two productive seasons with the Wheeling Nailers. He led Wheeling in scoring in 2024-25 with 55 points in 62 games, then added 37 points in 55 games last season.
Over those two years he totaled 32 goals and 60 assists in 117 regular-season games, plus 11 points in 20 Kelly Cup Playoff contests.
Before turning pro, De St. Phalle played four seasons at the University of Wisconsin, where he put up 87 points in 141 games and helped the Badgers win the 2021 Big Ten regular-season championship under former NHL player Tony Granato. He also spent parts of three AHL seasons with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Five forwards now signed
With the two additions, Allen has five forwards under contract for 2026-27, according to Inside The Rink. The Americans, Ottawa Senators' ECHL affiliate, open their 18th training camp in the DFW area this October.
