All Elite Wrestling is bringing two nationally televised shows to Allen's Credit Union of Texas Event Center in the first week of September, headlining a month packed with free and ticketed events across the city.

AEW Dynamite tapes Wednesday, Sept. 2, followed by AEW Collision on Saturday, Sept. 5, according to ESPN's schedule. Ticket prices have not been announced; check the venue's website for details and its bag policy.

St. Jude Carnival

The Talley Midway Carnival sets up at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 N. Greenville Ave., from Thursday, Sept. 10, through Sunday, Sept. 13. Expect a ferris wheel, carnival games, rides and food. Admission is free; games and rides require paid tickets. A separate Courtyard Carnival on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 2–7 p.m. adds inflatables, a climbing wall and children's games. Books & Brews

The Allen Public Library's book club meets Monday, Sept. 14, from 7–8:30 p.m. at The Brass Tap, 2540 N. Greenville Ave. September's pick is "The Bell Jar" by Sylvia Plath. Free to attend; food and drinks are available for purchase.

Joe Farmer Recreation Center turns 30

The Joe Farmer Recreation Center at 1201 East Bethany Dr. marks three decades of serving Allen with an all-day celebration Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The main event runs 6–8 p.m. with games, chance prizes and giveaways. Allen Parks and Recreation said the center has served as a gathering place for residents to stay active and build connections over its three decades. The party is free for all ages.

Ford Pool Pup Plunge

Dogs get the pool to themselves Saturday, Sept. 19, at Ford Pool. Small dogs (under 30 pounds) swim 9–10 a.m.; larger dogs take over 10:30–11:30 a.m. Cost is $5 per member dog, $7 per non-member dog. Owners must bring proof of rabies vaccination. Registration is required; details are on the Allen Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

Heritage Village Open House

Allen Heritage Village, 450 E. St. Mary Drive, opens its historic houses to visitors Sunday, Sept. 20, from 2–4 p.m. The open house runs every third Sunday of the month. Free.

Southern Couch Band at Watters Creek

Watters Creek Village hosts the Southern Couch Band on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 7–9 p.m. The group plays classics from the 1960s through the 1990s. The concert is free; seating is first-come, first-served. Bring a blanket or lawn chair.

Wednesday trivia at Chicken N Pickle

Chicken N Pickle, 1221 Johnson Rd., hosts free family trivia every Wednesday night from 6–7 p.m. throughout September. Questions cover pop culture, history, sports and more.
