A 352-unit apartment community is planned for W. Boyd Drive in Allen, east of US 75 near the SH 121 interchange.

Oxford, Mississippi-based Blackburn Communities and Plano-based Wolverine Interests announced the joint venture.

Brent Weltner, a partner at Blackburn Communities, said the project is expected to break ground in fall 2026 and open to residents in early 2028.

"We just think it's a really cool area and prime for growth," Weltner told Community Impact Newspaper in a report published Monday, July 21.

The development will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans. Planned amenities include a pool, gym, courtyard with outdoor activities, and a coworking space, Weltner said.

Wolverine Interests President Jim Leslie, who founded the firm in 2001, said the location's highway access was a key draw for the partnership.

Leslie has developed more than 8,000 multifamily units over a nearly 40-year career, including 1,200 units at Shops at Legacy in Plano and 2,000 units in Uptown Dallas, according to the firm's website.

He was a founding member of The Staubach Company in 1982, where he served as CFO.

A growing corridor

The project lands in a stretch of Allen already seeing heavy multifamily investment.

The 261-acre Sloan Corners mixed-use development by Billingsley Co. sits at the southwest corner of US 75 and SH 121, with Allen City Council approving an incentive agreement for the project in January 2026.

Phase 1 of Sloan Corners includes 500 apartments, 300,000 square feet of office space, three dog parks, a pond and nearly $1 million in public art, according to the city of Allen.

At least three other multifamily projects were underway or recently opened in Allen as of May 2026, according to Community Impact: Hartwood at Sloan Corners (479 units, now leasing), Crestview Apartments (434 units at 2050 Peak St., expected available in the third quarter of 2026), and Alta Preserve (311 units, broke ground in March 2026, expected available in the second quarter of 2027).

The Blackburn-Wolverine project has not yet received a branded name, and no city council approval or building permit for the development appeared in recent Allen records.
